Sustainability Mission:

Forum d’Ideias has reinforced its commitment to Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) by adding Sustainability as a core value of the company and of the events we provide for our clients.

And because we know that small details make a big difference (on a global scale), our commitment is, in our proportion, to contribute to a more balanced future in economic, social and environmental terms.

As a result of our performance, we achieved the Travelife Partner level award that recognizes the long-term efforts of Forum d’Ideias, regarding sustainability and Corporate Social responsibility (CSR). We comply with more than 100 criteria, related to an operator’s office management, service range, business partners and customer information. The Travelife Partner level standard is covering the ISO 26000 Corporate Social Responsibility themes, including environment, biodiversity, human rights, and labour relation.

Travelife is the leading international sustainability certification for the travel sector. More than 35 national travel associations are promoting the scheme to their members including, SMAL, APAVT, UHPA, ANVR, ABTA, PATA and more.

Forum d’Ideias participated in the EU-funded SUSTOUR project that ran from 2020 – 2023 and aims to promote sustainability among the European tour operator sector through a business led approach. The project supports over 600 small and medium-sized enterprises from 35 European countries in improving their sustainability performance through training, coaching and peer-to-peer learning opportunities

In collaboration with our partners, we have been adopting a model of events committed to the new world scenario and to the demands of clients.

Consequently, Forum d’Ideias has been adopting with its partners, a model of events committed to the new world scenario and to the demands of clients. For our sustainability policy, please click here.

According to the World Tourism Organization (WTO), sustainability is no longer an ideal, it has become mandatory.

It is urgent to implement a set of policies, measures and instruments to contribute to the balance of the different areas: economic, social and environmental.

  • Preserve natural resources, protecting natural beauty, its biodiversity and ecosystems;
  • Preserving the human, historical and cultural heritage, protecting the identity of destinations and societies, cultural heritage, as well as taking care of the impact of tourism on the lives of the local population;
  • Seeking a balance in the tourist flow, providing solutions that allow the extension of the tourist flow throughout the year and the demand for areas in the interior with less tourism;
  • Development of services based on ethics, quality and health safety with focus on training and qualification of the different players in tourism sector;
  • Development and support of the local economy, in terms of economic growth, employment rate, innovation, costs, diversity of services available;
  • Development of the accessibility network, being important to contemplate air accessibility, logistics, mobility in the territory, provision of transportation options adapted to special needs and more environmental;
  • Enabling infrastructures used for tourism with inclusive solutions, with access to all those with special needs.

Sustainability in events must be seen by all involved as an opportunity to innovate and to find new solutions, especially because tourism and events depend on this sustainable model. We also recall that sustainability helps to reinforce a positive image of companies, as concerns about the environment and society promote the empathy that generates recognition from the community and the more demanding customers.

That´s why we believe that the future depends on a more sustainable development model for companies and tourist destinations, with real benefits for everyone.

With this in mind, we give priority to partners who have implemented sustainability practices. We recommend that you calculate and offset the impact of travel related to your events. For that you can use CARMACAL, an innovative tool to measure the total carbon footprint of a travel.
